OCTAPLAS INDUSTRIAL SERVICES, INC.,
OCTAPLAS INDUSTRIAL SERVICES, INC., (OISI) is a corporation engaged in the plastics manufacturing,
packaging, and tolling business. The company has been servicing the various requirements for plastic
crates, floorings, trays, and other products of different industries from the manufacturing of plastic
products to the supplying of tolling services for commercial and industrial uses.
The company’s story began when its founders participated in environmental programs and promoted
educational awareness on plastic recycling by actively distributing flyers and conducting teach-ins at
schools and villages.
Afterward, the founders also (a) worked with the (i) Industrial Technology Development Institute of the
Department of Science and Technology (ITDI – DOST); and (ii) PET manufacturers and users under the
“PET Recycling Task Force” (“Misyon PET”) on the recycling of PET plastics and reduction of plastic waste
and, (b) was then recognized by the World Bank Group (Environmental Monitor 2001) for its successful
environmental awareness campaign. The project became instrumental in bringing environmental
awareness to the Filipino public and provided an additional source of income to consumers as a whole.
After these successes, one of the founders also participated as a member of an 11-person delegation
sent to represent the Philippines in a study tour sent to the USA under the “United States – Asia
Environment Partnership (USAEP) Exchange Program”. The USAEP is an exchange program established
by associations in the Philippines and in the United States which aims to contribute to the management
of solid waste through communication and technical assistance.
In line with the objectives of the USAEP, the company founders then participated as: (i) resource
persons for the Senate of the Philippines in the forum on “Household and Barangay Solid Waste
Management and Recycling”; and (ii) co-presented the “Misyon PET” recycling project with Coca Cola
Bottlers Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI) during the 5 th Asia Pacific Roundtable Regional Conference for Cleaner
Production & Waste Management held on March 2004 at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia.
OISI was formally founded in 2007 to carry out the vision of its founders to provide responsive
manufacturing and industrial services adaptable to the needs of the environment with capable
manpower and equipment in handling plastics recycling and manufacturing for fellow manufacturers,
government entities, and local communities.
OISI first secured its Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) accreditation from Société Générale de
Surveillance (SGS) in 2015 when it passed the audit based on the standards of the Codex Alimentarius
Commission and the International Code of Practice – General Principles of Food Hygiene. The
corporation has been able to successfully maintain this accreditation since September 2015.
Additionally, OISI has also secured Halal certification from the Islamic Da’wah Council of the Philippines
(IDCP Halal) in 2015. It has been able to successfully maintain this accreditation since October 2015.
